BELTON, MO (December 3, 2012) — On the heels of three acquisitions and aggressive 2012 sales growth, R·O·M Corporation (R·O·M) announces the hiring of Don Fishel as Vice President of Sales & Marketing. Fishel will be responsible for leading the sales and customer service teams, as well as marketing and product management teams.
“Don has a proven track record of driving change and growth. He understands the results we’re looking for and has a great vision of how we can take R·O·M to the next level,” said Jeff Hupke, CEO. “His well-rounded background in sales, engineering and marketing are a great fit for ROM and will help us continue to drive year-over-year growth during difficult economic times.”
Fishel brings more than 20-years of experience from his manufacturing and industrial positions. Most recently, he was the Senior Director of Sales and Marketing Strategy for Commercial Vehicle Group, Inc. In that role, Fishel reorganized and revitalized the aftermarket sales function, adding millions of dollars to the sales pipeline in nine months. He also directed product management and created marketing initiatives that helped align the company’s brand positioning across all distribution channels.
“Don is being tasked with two things. First, getting to know key accounts and second, listening from an unbiased perspective on where and how we can improve,” Hupke said. “Don is the type of key player whose energy will keep driving us forward.”
In 2011, R·O·M acquired Bustin Industrial Products which solidified the company’s position in walk ramps and other trailer access products. Also during 2011, R·O·M acquired the scene lighting product line from Havis, Inc. enabling the company to increase its portfolio offering to emergency customers. Earlier this spring, R·O·M acquired a third business, Prime Design, which manufactures a wide variety of ergonomic roof and ladder storage/deployment systems for specialty vehicle professions such as utility and telecommunication companies.
The addition of Fishel is the second R·O·M executive management member added this year. In March, Mike Plunkett was hired as Chief Financial Officer. Previously, Plunkett served as CEO of Dean Machinery, a large Caterpillar dealership in the Kansas City metro and was COO of Strategic One prior to that.
“We now have the necessary management team in place to better serve our customers and help drive growth in 2013,” said Hupke. He concludes by stating that Fishel and his family will remain in their hometown of Dublin, OH.
